SUMMARY:SFHA Welfare Reform Conference
LOCATION:Glasgow
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:\n\n \n\n\nA joint conference by:\n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\nThe Welfare Refo
rm Bill currently passing through Westminster represents the most significa
nt overhaul of the welfare system since its creation in 1948 and will see t
he introduction of Universal Credit (UC), a new integrated working age bene
fit that will replace a number of existing benefits including Housing Benef
it.  Under Universal Credit, the way that support for housing costs will b
e calculated and paid will change radically meaning landlords face serious
challenges to how they currently operate and they will need to adapt to tho
se changes.  Likewise, tenants will find they face significant changes as
a result of the Bill.\nThis conference, run jointly by SFHA with ALACHO and
SCVO and supported by CIH Scotland and COSLA, will examine and consider th
e impacts of the Welfare Reform Bill from a genuinely Scottish perspective,
taking account of how the Bill will impact on local authority and social h
ousing providers and their Third Sector partners, many of whom provide serv
ices to and represent the interest of various vulnerable groups across Scot
land. \n\n\nThe event is being held on Thursday 16 February 2012 at Hampden
Park in Glasgow.  For full information on the programme and a booking for
