In order to register with the website you are required to submit your first and last names, preferred user name, password, email address and organisation name.

The SFHA reserves the right to assign or transfer all or any of its rights and obligations under these terms and conditions to any of its group companies or to any other third party. In the event of assignment or transfer, notification will either be given to you by e-mail or posted on the Website.

Failure by the SFHA to exercise or enforce any right conferred upon it shall not be deemed to be a waiver of any such right nor operate so as to bar the exercise or enforcement of that or any other right on any later occasion.

The SFHA reserves the right to vary these terms and conditions from time to time. Such changes will either be notified to you by e-mail or posted on the Website. Changes in this manner shall be deemed to have been accepted if you continue to use the Website after a period of 2 (two) weeks from the date of transmission of the e-mail or of posting on the Website, whichever occurs later.

These terms are governed by and will be interpreted in accordance with Scottish law. The Scottish courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any claim or dispute which may arise out of or in connection with these terms and conditions.

SFHA Events

Please note that when you make a booking for one of our events, you are agreeing to be bound by the Terms and Conditions of Event Bookings which can be viewed here. Understanding the conditions BEFORE you book can prevent problems arising later.

Delegates Code of Conduct at our Events

The code of conduct sets out what is expected of everyone attending any event hosted by the SFHA. Attending an SFHA event shows agreement to follow standards of behaviour that everyone is able to be present without interruption, fear or intimidation. Where any person attending has a complaint, then that person is entitled to use the SFHA complaints process. Any person asked to leave an event can ask for an investigation of the circumstances around his or her exclusion.

All delegates attending events, must undertake to:

Treat all people with respect and act in a way which does not discriminate against or exclude anyone
Act in a fair and responsible way to any staff, fellow delegates or volunteers they encounter

The SFHA assumes that all people attending events agree to:

Observe the authority of the chair/speaker or facilitator at all times
Listen and respect the views and experiences of other people contributing
Agree to and follow the standard of behaviour expected at each event, according to what is happening at that event. For example, arriving in good time; not interrupting; not shouting; switching off mobile phones.
Add to the discussion only if and when asked to do so and then only in a way that is relevant to the matter under discussion.
Allow others to have equal opportunity and time to share their opinions when asked for.
Challenge ideas not individuals or their opinions.
Not use inflammatory language or behaviour of any kind
Not have used alcohol and illicit substances before or during the session
Report any health and safety issues which could affect the safe running of the event

Breach - If the code of conduct is breached during an event, SFHA staff may take one or more of the following steps with the objective of restoring order.

Any person making offensive, insulting, threatening remarks, while at a SFHA event, will be asked to leave the room (or be removed from the virtual platform). This may cause the event to be suspended for the shortest period needed to allow order to be restored.
Any person or persons causing through their behaviour, any other individual or individuals present at an event to fear for their personal safety may be subject to immediate removal from the event and/or the event premises.
It shall be at the discretion of the SFHA staff to decide whether any person or people are excluded or re-admitted to the event.

Enforcement

SFHA staff and board members will take reasonable steps to achieve compliance with the code including, if possible, seeking support from other others as the person they believe to be breaching the code.

If this action is insufficient, SFHA staff and board members will seek witness and obtain assistance from the most appropriate authority available, the management of the venue or (in serious cases) the police.
