SFHA’s Development Conference, sponsored by Scottish Procurement Alliance, will discuss the implications of the new Scottish Government building standards as well as how energy strategy can influence the design of Scotland’s homes.

During the conference, on 15 March, SFHA associate Member MAST Architects will lead a workshop looking at changes to section six, energy, of the new building regulations that come into force in October 2022. The session will also provide an overview of further changes that could be introduced in 2024.

This session will discuss:

  • What will affordable housing look like with no gas by 2024?
  • Where do Passivhaus and zero carbon fit in and what exactly do they mean?
  • Where should the focus be and is it affordable?

Other conference sessions will explore key issues related to development, including:

  • Affordable Housing Supply Programme 2022–2026
  • Housing for Varying Needs
  • Transforming old buildings into housing
  • Working with local authorities
  • Current and future development (modern methods of construction and net zero)
  • Hear from housing associations already developing to the new standards
