SFHA Annual Conference to ask: Is stigma holding tenants back?

14 and 15 June 2022, Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow.

Posted In

SFHA’s Annual Conference, Housing Scotland, is the leading Scottish social housing event. It provides an opportunity for sector leaders to hear from experts, gain skills, and exchange ideas in order to prepare for, and shape, the future of housing in Scotland.

The closing plenary session of this year’s conference will explore the impact of stigma on social housing tenants, and people living in poverty more widely, and what this means for the communities that housing associations and co-operatives work in.

The session, sponsored by Places for People, Scotland will consider:

  • What can we learn from other sectors and campaigns about this?

  • How do we change perceptions?

  • Are we perpetuating this stigma ourselves through our delivery and our own language?

Other session topics at this year’s conference include:

  • Is Scotland climate ready?

  • The future of public services after Covid

  • Remaking the relationship between communities and the welfare state to tackle poverty
