Launch of SFHA Internal Audit Guidance

Hear from author of guidance.

Posted In

The SFHA recently commissioned Caron Quinn to produce internal audit guidance for its members. The guide focuses on providing advice to governing body and audit committee members as well as senior staff within RSLs as to their roles and responsibilities within the internal audit function. The guide also details what they must do to ensure that the internal audit function is implemented and monitored effectively.

Up to date, sector specific guidance is long overdue, and extremely timely, particularly given the Scottish Housing Regulator’s review of its Regulatory Framework this year, with a view to the new framework being in place in 2019. It is possible that, as a result, both internal audit and audit committees could become a compulsory requirement for RSLs.

Whilst the guidance will be updated next year if there are any changes to regulatory requirements in this regard, it is worth emphasising the importance of having in place appropriate internal controls, irrespective of whether internal audit becomes mandatory or not. The right checks and balances is the only way to ensure that the governance of an organisation is sound and robust.

This short free event will take place on Wednesday 14 March at the SFHA office in Glasgow. It will provide delegates with the chance to hear from Caron Quinn and ask her any questions regarding the guidance.

This event is free to attend and is available exclusively to SFHA members. Book your place by visiting the SFHA website.
