Minister Hosts Round Table on Vacant Land Tax
The Housing Minister Kevin Stewart MSP recently hosted a round table on a possible Vacant and Derelict Land Tax, with the aim of bringing forward empty land for housing development. The SFHA were invited to participate and submitted views on behalf of our members on the need for more affordable land to be made available for housing development,
The round table had been convened as part of the Scottish Government's drive to build 50,000 affordable homes over the next 5 years, with 35,000 of these for social rent. SFHA joined other housing bodies such as Homes for Scotland, RICS and Shelter as well as academics, housing associations and house builders.
