Survey: housing association owned renewable, low carbon, and energy storage technologies in Scotland

Have your say by completing the 2017 Housing Association Renewables Survey.

Posted In

Thanks to all those who have taken the time to complete the 2017 Housing Association Renewables Survey. The information returned will be used to track progress to the Scottish Government’s renewable energy targets. If your housing association owns any renewable systems or energy storage systems, and you haven’t yet completed the survey, please do so and return it to Fiona Flynn at the Energy Saving Trust by 5 July.

You can also contact Fiona on 0131 555 7876 or at fiona.flynn@est.org.uk if you have any questions or have not received a copy of the survey.

More information below.

Survey: Housing association owned renewable, low carbon, and energy storage technologies in Scotland

The Energy Saving Trust (EST) has been appointed by the Scottish Government to provide updated information on renewable energy installations and energy storage installations that are owned by Scottish housing associations. This is part of the Scottish Government’s work to monitor progress towards its renewable energy and climate change targets.

To carry out this work, EST is working with the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) to conduct a survey on renewable technologies and energy storage technologies owned by your housing association and others in Scotland. The information it collates will be used to update the community and locally owned renewables database and accompanying report. The report will be published on the EST website in late autumn and will be used by the Scottish Government to monitor progress towards its new target for 1GW of community and locally owned renewable energy to be operational by 2020.

Given the purpose of the database and report, it is vital that EST accurately represents the contribution that housing associations are making in this area. This survey should be filled in by the relevant person at your housing association.

The survey consists of two tabs in an Excel workbook. Please note that both tabs should be filled in with the following information:

1)    The first tab consists of general information about your housing association.

2)    The second tab allows you to detail any renewable or energy storage systems installed, or in planning, on housing association properties or land, as well as any joint venture projects with other partners. EST is only collecting information for projects located in Scotland. The survey is intended to be a snapshot of installations operating or under development as at June 2017.

Please complete as many of the columns as possible. If the installation listed is not operational and won’t be by 30 June 2017, please indicate the expected operating date in the appropriate column in the survey. You can also leave comments where necessary.

Please, complete the survey by 5 July 2017 and return to Janine McKenna at jmckenna@sfha.co.uk

It would be most beneficial if you could follow the format and category descriptions specified, however if you have any concerns regarding how long it might take you to complete the survey, then please get in touch with EST to let it know what information you can provide.

If you have any questions about the survey, survey results or any other queries on the database, do not hesitate to contact Fiona Flynn on 0131 555 7876 or at fiona.flynn@est.org.uk

Thank you for taking the time to assist in this year’s data collation.
