Housing at Scotland’s Heart
Telling the story of the value of our social homes
Social housing is so much more than affordable rent. They are our homes – where we bring up our families, socialise with friends, and engage in thriving communities. A place where we feel safe, comfortable and connected. With our new campaign, Housing at Scotland’s Heart, we aim to tell the story of our social homes and what they mean for the people who live in them
Making sure that someone has a safe, warm, and affordable home is one of the biggest differences we can make to people’s lives. And that’s what our housing associations and co-operatives do. They give people the start they need, with a stable, affordable home.
But they need the right support. That’s why ahead of the Scottish Government announcing their annual plans as part of the Programme for Government, we’re asking that they prioritise three things:
- Delivering the affordable homes we desperately need
- Supporting social housing providers to tackle the climate emergency
- Tackling poverty to make sure no social tenant ever has to choose between heating and eating
You can read our Programme for Government briefing for MSPs here.
Put simply, social homes mean social justice. They are anchors at the heart of their communities, offering so much more than just bricks and mortar.
Can your housing association get involved in Housing at Scotlands Heart?
