Age Scotland offers support to help tenants to keep active and stay connected

Throughout December and January, Age Scotland will be running health and wellbeing friendship circles to support and encourage older people to keep active at the same time as making new connections with others.

Social Isolation is an increasing issue for many, with ongoing restrictions placed on us to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19 among the most vulnerable in our society.

Although modern technology has a huge role to play in keeping people connected, many people do still prefer to use the telephone.

Throughout December and January, Age Scotland will be running health and wellbeing friendship circles to support and encourage older people to keep active at the same time as making new connections with others.

This follows on from the charity's successful Around the House in 80 Days (ATH80) movement videos which it shared through its AgeScotland - YouTube channel every weekday in November, and these are still available to watch.

Your help is needed to promote awareness of this opportunity within your network of older people.

How do the health and wellbeing circles work?

The circles are small groups that come together weekly over the phone. They are a great way to connect with others and to feel supported and encouraged by Age Scotland's health and wellbeing professionals, Jenny and Yolanda, to stay active.

Age Scotland has a freephone number, so it costs nothing to take part, and you don't need to have participated in the YouTube videos to take part in the circles – these are open to everyone over the age of 50, and carers are welcome to join, too.

How do I register to join?

If you, or someone you know, would like to join Age Scotland's health and wellbeing circles, you can register by calling 0333 32 32 400 or by emailing info@agescotland.org.uk and it will provide further details regarding what you need to do next.
