Castlemilk associations offer a helping hand on Universal Credit
Castlemilk housing associations come together to provide a guide to Universal Credit.
Four of Castlemilk’s housing associations have come together to create a guide to Universal Credit.
The guide has been produced jointly by Ardenglen, Cassiltoun, Craigdale and North View Housing Associations. It focuses on the key things people need to know when claiming Universal Credit, as well as information on the help that is available throughout the process.
In particular, the guide explains:
- Who can claim Universal Credit;
- How to go about making a claim;
- How it affects rents; and
- How to make an online claim.
The guide also explains the help available to tenants from their respective housing associations in sections tailored to each housing provider. This includes sections on welfare rights and energy advice, and a section on services offered across the wider Castlemilk community such as food bank availability; support for single parents; IT access; and Citizens Advice.
A spokesperson for all four housing associations said: “We know our tenants are looking for advice given that Universal Credit is a new benefit. We hope our easy-to-understand and handy guide will prove useful, as well as offering help on a range of issues beyond Universal Credit itself.”
The Guide is expected to be available to tenants within the next ten days.
More information about Universal Credit is available on the SFHA website.
