Changeworks outlines pathways to net zero with strategy launch

Changeworks will increase its impact by expanding its delivery through growing existing services, alongside developing additional services, to reach new markets and accelerate decarbonisation.

In response to the climate emergency and Scotland’s net zero targets, Changeworks has launched its 22–25 strategy with one clear aim: to decarbonise Scotland’s homes.

Changeworks will increase its impact from a strong base by expanding its delivery through growing existing services, such as delivering area-based schemes, alongside developing additional services, to reach new markets and accelerate decarbonisation.

Ian Smith, Deputy Director of Consultancy and Strategic Delivery and Stephen Strachan, Principal Consultant (Net Zero Pathways) at Changeworks, presented at the SFHA annual conference which took place in Glasgow last week.

They shared insight into the new strategy’s goals and outlined how Changeworks’ best-in-class services can help accelerate SFHA members’ journey to net zero.

Ian Smith said: “We will develop and deliver innovative solutions across a diversity of housing types in both rural and urban settings. We want to maximise our impact, via local and smart energy systems, including the rollout of renewables, smart metering storage and demand management, as well as opportunities to connect to new communal heat networks or existing district heating.”

“We'll also develop solutions for households and social landlords looking for a more whole house or phased approach to retrofit versus single measure.”

Changeworks was awarded a place on Procurement for Housing (PfH) Scotland’s Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing 2 (EESSH2) framework at the start of the year and has a proven track record of being at the centre of innovation through its consultancy services.

These services include feasibility studies, funding support, energy efficiency modelling, and a dedicated monitoring and evaluation service. This helps housing providers to identify the upgrades needed for their housing stock to comply with EESSH2 and meet net zero targets.

Stephan Strachan said: “We have the skills and expertise to support local authorities and housing associations to decarbonise their own housing stock. By using data analysis, research and engagement to develop strategic plans, maximising funding streams, and delivering projects and programmes at scale. We want to support them and ensure our solutions are future-proofing their pathways to net zero.”
