David Lammy to join HACT for discussion on how to be an anti-racist organisation

A discussion and Q&A with David Lammy MP on how to be an anti-racist organisation: what does it mean for the housing sector?

Posted In

David Lammy, MP for Tottenham, will join HACT on Tuesday 25 May to discuss how we can be anti-racist organisations, what that looks like in practice for housing associations, and what lessons and opportunities our sector can take forward.

As a prominent MP, author and commentator on the subjects of social and racial justice, David Lammy will be sharing his thoughts at the upcoming webinar.

This is the first in a series of events that the Racial Equality Group hope to run across the year, which will focus on steps we can all take to promote racial equality in our organisations and our communities.

For the first half of the event, David Lammy will take questions from the Chair. In the second half of the event, questions will be taken from the audience. An option to submit a question has been included when registering for this event.

About the Racial Equality Group

Alongside many across the UK, housing associations were spurred into action by the murder of George Floyd in 2020 and the resurgent Black Lives Matter movement. A group of committed housing associations have worked with the Centre for Excellence in Community Investment to form a Racial Equality Group.

Following a joint statement of intent from the group and engagement events with colleagues across the sector to develop plans, the Racial Equality Group are hosting this event to continue the conversation and keep pushing for action to move towards racial equality.
