DGHP job and training events take place across region

Around 50 people attended the various events

Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership (DGHP) has held a second series of successful job and training days in partnership with a local college.

The events – in Stranraer, Dumfries, Annan and Kirkconnel – were popular across the region, with around 50 people attending the various days. They were held soon after recent employment days with DGHP’s contractor, idVerde.

The most recent drop-in events focused on training opportunities in roofing, rendering and window and door fitting in conjunction with Dumfries and Galloway College as well as current job opportunities available at DGHP.

People travelled from all over Dumfries and Galloway to attend the events, which were held in Stranraer, Dumfries, Annan and Kirkconnel. Everyone who attended took advantage of the opportunity to learn more about the training and vacancies.

Staff from DGHP were on hand to answer questions and provide more information on the positions currently available as well as guidance on submitting applications – for the jobs and training placements through the college – with more than 20 new applications being submitted.

DGHP’s Welfare Benefits Team, which deals with issues around Universal Credit and welfare benefits, was on hand at each event to answer questions in relation to applying for the positions.

Following the success of both the most recent set of recruitment days and the idVerde events, DGHP will be running future events to support tenants across Dumfries and Galloway. Keep an eye on its website and social media for details.
