DGHP to host money management and loan shark event
Event aims to highlight the problems associated with loan sharks.
Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership (DGHP) is to host an event next week focused around money management and the pitfalls of loan sharks.
The free event is one of four planned across the region this year, with the aim of highlighting the problems associated with loan sharks.
Aimed at encouraging people to take more control over their finances and equipping them with budgeting skills, the event will take place on Tuesday in the centre of Stranraer.
Many external agencies, as well as DGHP staff, will attend the event, in which more than 1,100 tenants have been invited to.
The event will take place on Tuesday August 22 between 10am and 2pm at the Coronation Day Centre, Stranraer. Private rooms will be used to talk in confidence with tenants.
External agencies attending include:
- Citizen’s Advice Bureau
- Trading Standards (loan sharks team)
- Community Safety Team
- DGHP’s welfare benefit advisor
- Staff from DGHP
- Stranraer Credit Union and
- Stranraer Furniture Project
