Caledonia Housing Association is delighted to announce that it has appointed Bracewell Stirling and ECD Architects as its framework architects for new housing developments for the next three years.

The three-year framework agreement for architecture services will see ECD and Bracewell Stirling work on the design of multi-tenure developments across Scotland to enable Caledonia Housing Association’s five-year plan to deliver 1,000 new affordable homes by 2022. These developments include the ongoing regeneration of the Newhouse Road area in Perth, along with other developments in Crieff, Dundee and West Dunbartonshire.

Both ECD and Bracewell Stirling were successful following a procurement exercise based on both quality and cost. Their submissions were judged to have provided the best overall blend of quality and innovation, balanced against the cost of delivery of the service over the period. Caledonia said this reflects its priority to design and build high quality and innovative affordable homes over the coming years.

Alistair Cameron, ECD Architects, said:

“We are delighted to have been appointed to the framework. Caledonia’s emphasis on innovation and sustainability align perfectly with our own company values, skills and experience. We look forward to working with the team to provide attractive environments and quality, efficient homes for residents.”

David Keith, Bracewell Stirling, said:

“The directors and staff at Bracewell Stirling are delighted to have been selected as one of the Practices on the Caledonia Housing Association architect’s framework. We look forward to working as part of the team over the next few years to help deliver new housing across the country.”

Andrew Kilpatrick, Caledonia Housing Association Asset Development Director, said:

“Caledonia is delighted to award these contracts to such high calibre architects. Both firms’ submissions stood out for their proven ability to provide mixed tenure homes across Scotland, along with their outstanding knowledge and delivery of energy efficient affordable homes.

“We are enthusiastic about what both architects can bring to our future developments, working together to deliver outstanding homes for tenants and owners alike.”
