One of the most respected and well-known figures in Edinburgh housing, Ewan Fraser, has retired after 33 years in the sector.

After 11 years in the post, Ewan stepped down from his role as Chief Executive at Dunedin Canmore at the beginning of December.

The highlights of his long and distinguished time in housing include leading on a range of award-winning new-build projects across Edinburgh and the regeneration of council estates in the south of the city.

More recently, Ewan was instrumental in guiding Dunedin Canmore through significant change as it joined and then settled into becoming part of Wheatley, Scotland’s largest housing, care and property-management group.

Ewan said:

“It has been extremely rewarding to work in the affordable housing sector for the last 33 years.

“It’s been challenging at times, but hopefully I have made a good contribution to many communities across the east of Scotland.

“Dunedin Canmore has been a fantastic organisation to work for and, as part of the Wheatley Group, they will be able to continue with the great work that they do and provide even more homes and services to people who really need support.”

Chief Executive of Wheatley Group Martin Armstrong said:

“Ewan has made an outstanding contribution to the world of housing over the last 33 years, and it has been fantastic having his experience at Wheatley. We all wish him the very best for his retirement.”

Dunedin Canmore Chair Thomas Mitchell said:

“It’s been a tremendous pleasure to work with Ewan over these past years. He has been a great support to the board and in driving Dunedin Canmore forward.

“His contribution to the regeneration of communities across Edinburgh has been massive and is widely respected.”
