Existing Homes Alliance Parliamentary Reception

Tuesday 29 May, 18:00–20:00, Garden Lobby, Scottish Parliament

Posted In

The Existing Homes Alliance Scotland is holding a Parliamentary Reception, hosted by Bob Doris MSP, on Tuesday 29 May. SFHA is a member of the Existing Homes Alliance.

This event will be an opportunity to lean how Scotland’s housing stock can be transformed through energy efficiency in order to tackle fuel poverty, cut emissions and create jobs. There will be presentations on a joint statement signed by civic and business organisations, calling for a Warm Homes Bill that will bring affordable to heat, low carbon homes for all in Scotland. This will be followed by discussion and networking amongst MSPs, parliamentary staff, signatories to the statement, government officials, and wider stakeholders.

Minister for Local Government and Housing Kevin Stewart MSP will also discuss progress on the Scottish Government’s commitment to making the energy efficiency of Scotland’s buildings a National Infrastructure Priority. Attendees will also hear from representatives of the Existing Homes Alliance who say that this bill is a once in a generation opportunity to transform Scotland’s homes, put an end to fuel poverty and seize the opportunities of a low carbon future. These organisations believe a strong Warm Homes Bill could result in:

  • Lower energy bills
  • Reduced climate change emissions
  • Healthier families and individuals
  • Jobs sustained and created in the energy efficiency sector
  • Greater energy security

Spaces are limited, so please RSVP by Tuesday 22 May
