Fairfield celebrates 30th anniversary with family fun day

Fairfield Housing Co-operative held a family fun day for the local community on Friday 10th August as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations.

Hundreds of the Co-operative’s tenants and children from the local community attended the event for an action-packed day of free activities, including archery, mini highland games, bouncy castles, dancing displays and a petting zoo.

Susan Bell, Corporate Manager said:

“Throughout our 30-year history, we have tried to focus on supporting the communities we operate in so it was really important that any celebrations for our birthday had an event that the children could come along to. The whole day was a huge success and to have so many people attend was beyond our expectations.”

In addition to the activities, there was free food for everyone to enjoy, including burgers, homemade soup, sandwiches, cakes and snacks. There were also various opportunities to win prizes and find out more about the work of Fairfield Housing Co-operative.

“We had a great time. Days like this remind you of what a community should be like.”

Vice Chair Kerry Ward said:

“We had a great time at the fun day celebrating Fairfield’s 30th Anniversary, and it was great to see such a brilliant turn out. Well done to everyone who organised the day and took part.”

The Chairperson of the Co-operative, Rena Crighton, said:

“It made me very proud of our small Co-operative that so many of the local community attended the event. Fortunately the rain stayed off, the activities went down a treat and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves, which made it all worthwhile.”

The Co-operative, based in Perth, has approximately 500 tenants in homes within the communities of Fairfield, Muirton, and the town centre, with new homes being built in Bridge of Earn and Bertha Park over the next few years.
