Free safety device: Locking Cooker Valve
SGN is offering a free safety device to help keep vulnerable people gas safe in their own homes.
Gas distribution company SGN is offering a free safety device to help keep vulnerable people gas safe in their own homes. They are looking for partner organisations to help identify individuals who could benefit from this simple, life-changing service.
SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to over 5.9 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. The company has a number of safeguarding initiatives in place to provide extra support and safeguarding for vulnerable members of the community.
SGN’s locking cooker valve is a simple solution, which helps people such as those with Alzheimer’s or autism, retain their independence while keeping them safe at home. The lockable valve is fitted to existing gas cooker pipework. When locked the cooker cannot be unintentionally turned on or left on, when the carer is out of the room.
