17 May, Glasgow

Posted In

The HM Revenue and Customs’ Housing Association team has joined forces with SFHA’s Finance Forum partners, RSM, to host a seminar in Glasgow on 17 May.

The event will provide insight into how Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) can identify and manage effectively their key tax risks.

Topics will include:

  • Key areas of tax risk for RSLs: A review of key tax risk areas for RSLs across the range of taxes, including VAT, employment taxes, corporation tax, property taxes and the Construction Industry Scheme. Emerging tax risks will also be considered, such as those arising from Making Tax Digital for VAT.
  • HM Revenue & Customs’ strategy for supporting the social housing sector: HM Revenue & Customs will outline their ‘Promote, Prevent, Respond’ approach to supporting RSLs, their main areas of focus and their expectations of RSLs in terms of effective tax risk management arrangements.
  • Effective tax risk management by RSLs: The key elements of an effective tax management strategy for RSLs.
  • Q&A with HM Revenue & Customs and the RSM social housing tax team: A panel discussion during which attendees will be able to ask HM Revenue & Customs and the RSM social housing tax team questions in relation to tax risk in the social housing sector. Please email questions in advance of the event to Lauren Richardson.
