Glen Oaks Housing Association has been celebrating the cultural exchange of traditions recently with its St Andrews Night Cultural Celebration.

All the residents were encouraged to embrace the different cultures in the community by celebrating the Scottish traditions of ceilidh dancing and singing with the little known tradition of fortune telling, which is celebrated on the same day.

Local musicians entertained and there was Irish dancing, Burns poetry and a Polish doughnut eating competition.

Brenda Whitelaw, Glen Oaks’ Community Initiatives Manager, said;

“As you can see from the photos, the event was such a success that we are now looking at making this a regular fixture in our social calendar!”
