Hebridean Housing Partnership hands over first phases of houses at Goathill

Hebridean Housing Partnership has announced that the first phase of houses at Sinclair Avenue was handed over on 3 June 2021. There are 20 houses for affordable rent and eight for sale through the New Supply Shared Equity (NSSE) scheme in this phase.

In response to the handover of this phase, Iain Macmillan, Chairperson of Hebridean Housing Partnership said: “On behalf of Hebridean Housing Partnership, I am delighted that this first phase of the significant Goathill development has been completed.  The 20 homes made available for rent and the eight homes available to purchase under the New Supply Shared Equity scheme continue the major investment undertaken by Hebridean Housing Partnership in affordable housing. 

“We continue to work with our partners in the Comhairle and the Scottish Government to provide affordable, sustainable homes across the islands, to meet the needs of our communities.”

Cllr Kenny John Macleod, Chair of the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Communities and Housing Committee said: “On behalf of the Comhairle, I am thrilled to see the first of the shared equity houses at Goathill complete, particularly in light of the difficulties of the past year. The homes will provide our community with much needed affordable housing whilst contributing to a more sustainable way of life.

“We are very encouraged to see the speed with which the Development Programme has progressed since restrictions were lifted as this supports the Comhairle's desire to see more high quality, affordable homes and a wider range of tenure opportunities made available throughout the islands, and we thank all development partners for their work in getting us to this milestone.”
