A housing and care provider is looking to recruit two voluntary board members to help take forward its commitment to make a difference to the lives of older people in Scotland.

Bield has been delivering quality housing and support services for older people for almost 50 years, supported by a talented and committed group of Board members.

A new opportunity has arisen to join the Edinburgh-headquartered organisation as it looks to both meet the challenges ahead in the sector and to develop its exciting future plans.

Bield – a registered charity – has grown from humble beginnings, starting out with one housing development in Bo’ness to become a major provider of a wide range of housing and services for around 20,000 older people across 23 local authority areas.

Bield is looking for strategic thinking individuals, ideally with experience in:

  • housing management
  • digital and technology (in older people customer service)
  • cultural and complex change
  • legal

Lynne Douglas, Chief Executive at Bield, said: “It’s a really exciting time at Bield as we strengthen our foundations to continue to develop and grow, for many years to come, while meeting the changing aspirations of a new generation of Scotland’s older people.

“To do this, we wish to welcome new individuals to the organisation who will bring a different perspective and outlook on our work and our sector.

“All employees within Bield share our values and vision of a Scotland where people of all ages are respected, can make their own choices and can live independent, fulfilling lives which will be something we will look for throughout the recruitment process.

“I encourage anyone who is interested in the role to apply as you will be making a direct difference to someone’s life while working alongside like-minded people who are enthusiastic and committed to support Bield in its future direction.”

The board meets seven times a year in Edinburgh or Glasgow during the day, with the occasional opportunity to visit some of Bield’s developments across Scotland.

Bield is happy to encourage applicants from all backgrounds, communities and ages to reflect Scotland’s rich diversity.

Applications are currently open and will close 27 March, with interviews beginning on 22 April 2020.
