Rutherglen and Cambuslang Housing Association announces the sad passing of Julie Annan
It is with great sadness that Rutherglen and Cambuslang Housing Association announces the death, after a short illness, of Julie Annan, one of the associations founding committee members. Julie helped form the Rutherglen Housing Action Group in 1979 which was eventually registered as Rutherglen Housing Association in 1980. She served on the Management Committee for 33 years, for most of that time as company secretary, before retiring through ill health in 2013. She also served on the Board of SHARE and was Chair of the organisation between 2002 and 2004.
Julie was a strong advocate of good quality affordable housing, both through her involvement with RCHA and in her ‘day’ job as a lecturer at the Mackintosh School of Architecture.
Robert McLeary, the associations Chairperson, said:
“Julie was full of energy and was committed to the work of the community based housing association movement. She will be sadly missed and our thoughts go out to her daughters Gail and Louise.”
Julie’s funeral will be at 10.15am on Wednesday 16 November in the South Lanarkshire Crematorium, Sydes Brae, Blantyre, G72 0TL and everyone Julie knew is welcome.
