New appointments at Kingdom Housing Association

Kingdom Housing Association has appointed Alan Simpson as Director of Housing and Asset Management.

The Kingdom Group, based in Fife and operating in East Central Scotland, has over 4,000 homes under management. The group consists of Kingdom Housing Association, Kingdom Initiatives and the recently formed Kingdom Support and Care CIC.

The creation of Kingdom Support and Care resulted in a restructuring within the group, with Norah Smith, currently Kingdom’s Director of Housing and Care, taking up a new director’s post within the new support and care subsidiary.

A new directorate for housing and asset management was created as part of the reorganisation, and Alan Simpson has been appointed as director. Both Norah and Alan will start their new posts on 1 April 2017.

Freya Lees, Chair of Kingdom Housing Association, said:

“The association is delighted to have appointed Alan as our new director of housing and asset management. Alan is a longstanding member of staff with considerable experience of working with our tenants and knows our housing stock well and brings this expertise to his new role.”

Alan has worked with Kingdom for over 23 years, starting as development officer in 1993; he worked in various positions in property services before being appointment as Kingdom’s Head of Asset Management in 2014. He is also a qualified Quantity Surveyor and a member of the RICS.

Alan said:

“The new role as Director of Housing and Asset Management will be challenging, given all the changes which are impacting on the sector. However, I am really looking forward to starting in the new post and working with the teams to deliver on the objectives agreed by the board.

“Kingdom already provides high quality homes and services to our customers and this is an area we plan to build on in the future to ensure Kingdom remains as a leading provider of housing in our areas of operation.”

Bill Banks, Kingdom’s Group Chief Executive, said:

“I have worked with Alan for many years, and I would like to congratulate him on his recent appointment.

“We have ambitious plans to provide more new affordable housing and our business plan is based on continuing to develop enhanced services to our customers to assist them to sustain their tenancies, whilst demonstrating affordability and value for money, and I am confident Alan will make a significant contribution to achieving these aims.”
