Kingdom Housing Association expands development in Perthshire

Phase three will provide 14 high quality, highly energy-efficient homes for social rent and six new homes for mid market rent.

Work has started on 20 new affordable homes as Phase three of Kingdom Housing Association’s development on the outskirts of Rattray in Perthshire continues.

Phase three is part of the association’s first project in the Blairgowrie area at Glenalmond Road where a total of 50 new homes for social rent were completed in 2019/20.

The new phase will provide 14 high quality, highly energy-efficient homes for social rent and six new homes for mid market rent. Reflecting local housing needs, almost two thirds of the properties are amenity homes, suitable for older people or tenants with particular housing needs.

The development is being built by Springfield Properties with the new social rent homes owned by Kingdom and managed by Fairfield Housing Association. The mid market rent properties will be leased to Kingdom Initiatives.

Bill Banks, Kingdom Group Chief Executive, said: “Feedback from residents who are settled into their new homes from the initial phases of the development in Rattray has been very positive, particularly with regard to the Secured by Design accreditation and the high levels of energy efficiency which means lower utility bills. Phase three will continue our commitment to sustainability standards.”

Bill added: “I’m delighted that the development at Glenalmond Road allows us to continue working collaboratively with Perth and Kinross Council, Fairfield Housing Association and Springfield Properties and to help meet the current housing needs in the area.”

The total project cost is around £3m and funding of £1.5m has been provided by The Scottish Government with Perth and Kinross Council Commuted Sums funding also being provided to support the project.

The project is scheduled to complete in November 2021.
