Kingdom shortlisted for CIH Excellence Awards

Kingdom Housing Association has been shortlisted in two categories in the Chartered Institute of Housing in Scotland’s prestigious Excellence Awards.

The association’s Fraser Avenue regeneration project has been shortlisted for the Excellence in Regeneration category and its ground-breaking homelessness employability project, the Naumann Initiative, in the Excellence in Housing Innovation category.

Kingdom said that community involvement has been at the heart of the Fraser Avenue regeneration project, and the emerging transformation of the estate has come from close collaborative working with the local community, Fife Council, and a range of other private and voluntary sector organisations.

The association described the project as “delivering an authentic sustainable new neighbourhood, with a distinctive new identity, breaking free from an image of being isolated and stigmatised and has reinforced the need to work collaboratively to achieve mutual goals and help recreate a sense of community”.

The Naumann Initiative is an innovative project that aims to break the vicious circle of homelessness and unemployment by simultaneously giving a homeless person a job, a home and support with any complex needs or barriers to sustaining their tenancy.

Bill Banks, Group Chief Executive at Kingdom, said: “Striving for excellence is core to how we work at Kingdom, and I’m delighted that we’ve been shortlisted for these awards.

“We are very proud of both these projects, and the positive impact they will have on people’s lives, but it’s always great to get external recognition, too.

“I’m very much looking forward to the award winners being announced but know that we’re up against some stiff competition.”
