Lintel Trust is calling on all housing heroes to take part in the 2.6 challenge, which aims to help charities that are struggling with a loss of fundraising income due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The challenge can be anything you like. It doesn’t have to be something big, like walking or running a marathon, but it should relate to the numbers 2.6 or 26.
Lintel Trust is Scotland’s only grant-giving, fund management charity. It relies on fundraising activities and partnerships to generate income.
Kate Christie, Senior Business Development Officer at Lintel Trust, said: “We’ve been supporting small community projects for 40 years, and this is the first time we’ve ever had to suspend grant giving. With no fundraising, we have no funds to distribute.
“We’re asking for your help. While larger charities have been able to launch high-profile fundraising campaigns, small charities are facing a bleak future if they are unable to find funding elsewhere. A high number of these charities will not survive, and, at Lintel Trust, we want to help them.”
“While we’re not delivering frontline coronavirus support, the projects we support are. When life finds it’s ‘new normal’, small social housing projects will be even more vital in helping people adjust to a new way of living.”
Lintel Trust is appealing for your assistance to help it to continue to support tenant groups, befriending services, digital participation activities and projects alleviating social isolation, particuarly for older people.
Lintel Trust is also taking part in the challenge and has commited to sharing 26 positive housing association/co-operative stories via social media to celebrate the housing sector.
Taking part is simple. You just need to:
- set up a Virgin Money Giving page,
- think of a fun sponsored activity based around the numbers 26 or 2.6 that you can complete safely
- invite your friends, colleagues and family to donate
- Once you have completed your challenge, upload a photo or video to social media and tag a friend or friends inviting them to do their own challenge.

If you need to set up a fundraising page, you can do so in just a few minutes at virginmoneygiving.com – setting up a page is free and easy to do. Alternatively, you can make your donation directly to Lintel Trust using the 'Donate Button'.
Lockdown means you will need to do this at home – or during your hour’s daily exercise, providing you can do so safely and within government guidelines.
