Lister publishes management committee minutes on website
Minutes will be published monthly once approved by the following management committee meeting.
Lister Housing Co-operative has published its first set of management committee minutes – for April 2019 – on its website
Lister said it wishes to comply with the new Scottish Housing Regulator requirement to publish minutes and also enter into the spirit of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act early. Minutes will be published monthly once approved by the following management committee meeting.
Alistair Cant, Lister Director, said: “We wished to produce minutes that were concise but also informative, not just for our committee members but also for all our tenants and the wider public.
“We try and explain very briefly the nature of each agenda item and the decision taken. We wish to avoid just saying ‘agenda item 10 – approved’ or ‘item in report 5B – noted’ as that means nothing to the casual reader. We also try and write them, so we are not releasing confidential information or raising GDPR issues, for example, membership applications and cancellations are referred to by the membership number, rather than divulging individual names. In a fully-mutual co-op like ours, our members are our tenants and a degree of privacy is needed.”
Mr Cant concluded: “We know there is no one ‘right’ style of minutes, and we are happy to learn from others. Our committee are keen to embrace the principle of sharing information as well as helping inform people about the range of topics considered by our all-tenant management committee.”
