Tesco Stranraer and Simpsons Bakers have been instrumental in supporting the breakfast club in order to enable Loreburn to take it forward with Belmont primary. The association is very grateful for their contributions which have enabled the breakfast club to commence.

Research has shown that these clubs not only promote health and nutrition but also improves learning, attendance, punctuality and concentration, thus better learning outcomes are achieved. It also allows them the opportunity to socialise or do their homework in a secure friendly environment.

The pupils are thoroughly enjoying this new club and said (by Aylie, Carly, Ashlyn and Chloe):

“Breakfast Club at Belmont School is fantastic. You get to talk to your friends and enjoy free time before school starts.

“You have delicious toast with butter and jam.

“We would like to thank the terrific school staff who help us to run the Belmont Breakfast Club. We would also like to thank Loreburn Housing Association, Tesco Stranraer and Simpsons Bakery who have all made it possible for us to have the club and continue to support it with donations of food.”

Donna McCulloch, Regional Housing Manager (West ) for Loreburn Housing, said:

“We are delighted to have facilitated this breakfast club for Belmont Primary, Schools play a pivotal role in the community, we hope to continue to work in partnership with the school to promote and develop other initiatives to benefit the children and their parents.”
