Port of Leith Housing Association and its subsidiary, Persevere Developments Ltd, are celebrating the official opening of 15 new homes for mid-market rent and nine new homes for social rent at West Bowling Green Street in Leith.

Friday 29 November saw Ben Macpherson MSP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith open the new development of one, two and three-bedroom flats which offer stunning views over the Water of Leith.

Keith Anderson, Chief Executive of Port of Leith Housing Association, said: “We feel really proud to see so many happy faces moving into these excellent new affordable homes in time for the festive period.

“Demand for high-quality affordable homes continues to be very high in Leith and across Edinburgh. It is therefore extremely important that the resources necessary to enable projects such as this to continue to be available in the city for many more years to come.

“We also feel strongly that everyone has the right to a safe and secure place to call home which they can afford to live in. That’s why Port of Leith Housing Association is pleased to sign up to support Shelter Scotland’s Charter for Change which is calling for stronger laws in Scotland which recognise housing as a human right.”

Ben Macpherson MSP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith said: “I’m delighted to open this new affordable housing development at West Bowling Green Street, delivered by Port of Leith Housing Association.

“These new, high-quality affordable homes for social and mid-market rent are a great addition to Leith and form part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to deliver 50,000 more affordable homes by 2021. I’m excited to see how this new community flourishes and wish everyone moving in all the very best in their new homes.”
