New Osprey homes making a difference in Inverurie

The houses are in Portstown and offer residents state-of-the-art design while also boosting the town’s social housing provision.

Osprey Housing has added to its rural Aberdeenshire portfolio with tenants moving into three new builds in Inverurie. The houses are in Portstown and offer residents state-of-the-art design while also boosting the town’s social housing provision.

For mother-of-four Jane Allan, the move to her terraced home in Portstown marked a new chapter in her life. Ms Allan had been living in a three-bedroom Osprey property in Insch for the past 17 years but wanted to move following her divorce and after taking up a job as a care assistant in Inverurie.

Ms Allan said: “Three of my daughters had flown the nest, so that just left me and 17-year-old Isla at home and we no longer needed such a large home. I also wanted to be closer to my job.

“Osprey were great, with Elaine Sutherland — one of the housing officers — showing enormous understanding of my situation. She really went the extra mile to find the perfect property for me, Isla, and our two dogs.”

Ms Allan added: “We are all so happy to be here and for our former house in Insch to go to a family who need the space.

“Our new home is modern, bright, and I now have the spacious sunny kitchen I’ve always dreamed of.”

Housing Manager Stacy Angus said: “Osprey were delighted to take forward the opportunity to deliver these quality properties in such a high-demand area. It doesn’t matter if we are creating three new homes or 33 — we are still making a difference. The right home in the right place has such a profound effect on people’s lives.”

She added: “During these difficult times, the need for a safe, secure place to call home has never been more important and the positive personal impact this has on each of these families has been significant.

“Good quality housing really underpins wider health and well-being in our communities, and Osprey are proud to be continually delivering this across the north-east.”
