Working closely with various groups, including the Scottish Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS) and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA), ng homes, through their Housing and Community Regeneration departments, have creatively engaged with the community across age groups and cultures on issues concerning alarm and risk through a number of initiatives.

This includes but is not limited to; risk recognition training with staff and residents; Cooksafe programmes with vulnerable groups; vital safety messages in partnership with SFRS/ROSPA on carbon monoxide poisoning; child safety; cooksafe; multi storey flat tenant scrutiny group.

With such a diverse range of UK wide submissions, it is testament to the hard-work of staff and the high standard of ng’s work in risk awareness that the association received the award.

Outgoing Alarm UK Chair Jane O’Leary commented, “With this year’s Conference focusing on empowering risk professionals to become Stronger and Louder, it is reassuring to see this reflected in so many of the Risk Awards submissions. The standard and variety of submissions represent the inspiring and diverse work undertaken each and every day in the profession.”

Ng homes have been quick to commend and congratulate those who have helped to secure this prestigious award and are delighted that the commitment and hard-work of staff from across the organisation has paid off. It is testament to the dedication of their regeneration and housing staff in creating a community which can flourish and prosper, with Association Chair John Thorburn leading the celebrations.

“Everyone at ng from those on the Board to our Regeneration team should be proud of receiving this award. We put Health and Safety at the very forefront of our agenda and to see it rewarded as such is down to their hard work and to the eagerness of tenants to engage with their creative workshops and ideas. We will continue to press on with risk assessments and ensuring North Glasgow and its homes are as safe, if not safer, than they have always been.”
