Parkhead launches development company
Parkhead Housing Association formally launches new subsidiary.
Parkhead Housing Association (PHA) was delighted to formally launch its new trading subsidiary, Parkhead Development Company (PDC), on Thursday 26 January 2017.
The business has been in operation since October last year and is now beginning to establish itself within the local community. Providing estate management, close cleaning and void clearance services to PHA the organisation aims to create longterm, sustainable job opportunities for the area.
At the launch, PHA Chair Elizabeth Kennedy spoke of the journey to establish PDC. She Said:
“After a long consultation period, once the Board of PHA had discussed in great detail the pros and the cons of project, we embraced the creation of the development Company. It’s fair to say that they have hit the road running, and, over the last four months, have established the organisation well and the benefits are already being realised.
“Proper and effective governance is a hallmark of PHA, and the RSL set out to seek to create a first class Board to run their subsidiary. PHA has established a five-member group of extremely talented and dedicated people who volunteered to take the lead in the creation of PDC.”
Lauren Rice, the newly appointed Chair of PDC, said:
“While our journey as the Board of a fledging social enterprise has been a short one so far, it has certainly been a fruitful one, as I am delighted to see the organisation find its feet so quickly.
“We have gone from an idea, and a mission to provide employment opportunities to the people of Parkhead, to a fully functioning business in such a short period of time. This is an achievement that cannot be underestimated.”
“Like all new ventures, we will no doubt have our issues along the way, but I am sure the team here at PDC led by Charles and supported by everyone at Parkhead Housing Association will continue to succeed and provide an excellent service to the local community.”
