Really Good Data Protection LLP joins SFHA as Commercial Associate
Scottish based data protection specialist, RGDP LLP, is delighted to announce that it has become a Sector Associate of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA).
Established in January 2018, RGDP works in association with the renowned data protection lawyers from BTO Solicitors and Tim Musson from Computer Law Training Ltd. RGDP offers SFHA members a high quality and cost-effective solution to your requirement for a Data Protection Officer (DPO).
RGDP provides data protection advice and DPO services to businesses and organisations that choose to outsource all or some of their data protection requirements. Services can be delivered on site and/or remotely and include: data protection compliance audits, provision of a named DPO who is the registered point of contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), advice and assistance with GDPR compliant policies and procedures, monitoring compliance with GDPR, DPA 2018 and other data protection and information related regulations, instilling a good data protection culture within the organisation and advising/assisting in response to incidents such as personal data beaches and subject access requests, including when advice is required urgently and sometimes outside normal working hours.
RGDP’s DPOs, one of whom has over 8 years of experience of working within the social housing sector, are educated to degree level with additional relevant qualifications and much experience of working in the Information Governance field. They have good communication skills and help ensure that organisations comply with the legislative requirements of the GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and PECR/ePrivacy.
RGDP’s association with BTO Solicitors and Computer Law Training offers seamless access to legal advice and training if required and RGDP can also refer to trusted partner Cyber security specialists.
There are a number of reasons why SFHA members are likely to benefit from outsourcing their data protection requirements. Most do not need a full-time DPO and many do not have anyone with the required professional qualities and expert knowledge who is not also involved in decision making and therefore at risk of an internal conflict of interest. Outsourcing the DPO function ensures the degree of independence required by GDPR whilst allowing organisations to focus on their core activity. It is also a cost effective way of ensuring that your DPO will have the latest knowledge and expertise and will always keep up to date with regulatory requirements and examples of best practice.
RGDP General Manager, Mark Chynoweth said:
“RGDP is delighted to have joined the SFHA as a Sector Associate and we look forward to playing a full and active role within the Association. We are already providing our DPO services to a number of Housing Associations in Scotland and we are looking to further our involvement with the housing sector through our association with the SFHA.
If you are going to require a DPO, I would strongly recommend that you consider outsourcing and if you would like to know how RGDP can assist you with this, we would be delighted to hear from you.”
