Orkney Housing Association makes final of apprentice awards
Orkney Housing Association makes final of Skills Development Scotland Scottish Apprentice Awards 2016.
Orkney Housing Association Ltd (OHAL) was delighted to have been named as an ‘Employer of the Year’ finalist in the Skills Development Scotland Scottish Apprentice Awards 2016.
Mhairi Hughes, OHAL Head of Corporate Governance, said:
“It was our first year of running the Modern Apprentice scheme so to be shortlisted for this national award was a real achievement. The winners on the night have trained 1,000 apprentices in nine years, and it is great to be recognised alongside them as one of the top three apprentice employers in Scotland.”
John Rodwell, Chair of OHAL, said:
“We pride ourselves on being a great place to work and offering opportunities for our staff at all stages of their careers.
“Bringing Modern Apprentices into the association has been a very positive experience for us and them. We have an ongoing commitment to develop young people in our community and have another apprentice who recently joined our team this autumn.”
The awards ceremony was held at the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh, on Thursday 3 November and was attended by Mhairi and OHAL’s two apprentices, Emma Barton and Leanne Omand.
