Regulator seeks landlords’ feedback on asset management guidance
SHR seeks views on proposed changes to current advisory guidance on asset management.
The Scottish Housing Regulator has written to all social landlords to seek their views on proposed changes to its current advisory guidance on asset management.
The regulator commissioned Arneil Johnston to carry out a review of the guidance first published in 2012. The guidance is intended to help landlords develop their approach to asset management in order to deliver good services for current and future tenants and make the most of the homes they own.
The regulator is updating its guidance to reflect changes in the social landlord operating environment since it was first published in 2012.
Arneil Johnston has now completed its initial review of the current document and has identified a number of proposed changes. These are set out in the survey briefing available on the regulator’s website.
The regulator is now asking landlords to complete a short survey. The survey will close on 20 March 2020.
The survey seeks landlords’ views on the following areas:
- reaction to the review recommendations
- experiences of asset management in practice
- views on skills and capacity analysis
- the asset management tools and approaches in use
- priorities for any advisory guidance content.
Ian Brennan, Director of Regulation, said: “We want to hear from landlords about whether the changes we are proposing to our advisory guidance address all of the key issues which they face when they are developing their approach to strategic asset management. Arneil Johnson will collate the responses and provide us with a report which will inform our next steps.”
