River Clyde Homes’ clothing drive helps local schools

River Clyde Homes donates to two Greenock primary schools.

Money raised from a recent clothing drive, organised by River Clyde Homes, the Inverclyde-based housing association, has been donated to two Greenock primary schools.

Following the sale, held at the Craigend Resource Centre in Greenock, £300 was distributed between local schools, All Saints and Kings Oak.

The community event, organised by River Clyde Homes’ Central Team, relied on generous donations of new and ‘gently worn’ clothing from staff and local people.

Caroline McCahill, Senior Family Learning Worker at King's Oak Primary School and Nursery, said: “On behalf of the school, I’d like to thank River Clyde Homes’ staff for this donation. The money went towards pupils going on end-of-term trips, contributing to a great end of term for them.

“We look forward to working with River Clyde Homes again in the future on other activities.”

Elaine Cannon, Service Improvement Manager (Central) at River Clyde Homes, said: “This clothing drive was a great example of our commitment not just to provide housing but also to work towards our vision of ‘improving lives and places’.

“We’re delighted to have raised this amount of money for local schools, and my thanks go to staff for organising the event, Craigend Resource Centre, and to everyone from the community who, by donating and attending the event, made it a success.”
