The £2.9 million development was built as part of a partnership with Wilson Developments (Scotland) Ltd.

Despite the challenges of a year in lockdown, Rutherglen and Cambuslang Housing Association has successfully completed the development of 18 new homes on the site of an old filling station on Hamilton Road, Cambuslang.

The £2.9 million development was built as part of a successful partnership with Wilson Developments (Scotland) Ltd.

John McNulty, Maintenance Manager at Rutherglen and Cambuslang Housing Association, praised the standard of workmanship.

He said: “Everyone involved in the project worked together to ensure the highest standards were achieved and are delighted with the finished product.”

The association said that "tenants were full of praise for their new homes and were impressed with the measures taken to make the flats fuel-efficient to reduce bills". These include installing modern solar panels, SMART meters, high-performance gas central heating systems and double-glazed units.

All of the one-bedroom flats are built to amenity standards specifically for elderly residents with disabilities or mobility issues and are fully wheelchair accessible. The majority of the flats also have generously sized shower rooms with walk-in showers and open plan kitchens and living rooms. The two-storey building has a lift and resident parking to allow full accessibility.

Rutherglen and Cambuslang Housing Association’s Director, Elaine Lister, said: “In addition to our completion of the 35 amenity homes, recently completed at Glenroyal Gardens, this development goes someway in delivering housing for the needs of our elderly and disabled community.

"We will continue to look for opportunities to provide more high-quality, affordable housing for people in housing need and to support the communities we work in.”
