Scottish Water remote inspections app

Now available in the google play store and the apple store.

Posted In

Phase two of the Scottish Water ‘Dev Services’ app is now live in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

Depending on your device, the app may have been automatically updated to the new version, to find out if this is the case, please search ‘Dev Services’ in the store, and, if it allows you update to the new version, please do so. However, for best practice, please delete the app and re install it.

What is included in the new update?

The new update will bring all the remote inspection benefits across an increased number of functions, with all of these benefits also being available to retail and single house customers.  The new inspection types included on the update are as follows:

  • Mainlay

  • Pressure Testing

  • Disinfection

  • Sampling

How do I access the app?

In order to access the app, first you must be a registered user of the Development Service Applications Portal, using the same log in credentials that you use to access the customer portal.

If you are ready registered on the portal, then you can proceed to download the app. Search ‘Dev Services’ in your app store, and you will find the new version of it. Follow the instructions to download as normal. If you have the old version already installed, Scottish Water recommends you delete it and re-install the latest version.

If you’re not already registered on the portal, then you must register for the Development Service Applications Portal.

Many organisations already have accounts on Scottish Water’s portal, and each organisation has a portal administrator who is responsible for adding and removing users of the company, allowing access to their specific account.

If you’re not sure if you company/organisation has a portal account, or who your organisation’s administrator is, please contact 0800 389 0379 (option 4).

If your organisation is not already registered for the customer portal, please do so via this link.

Please only create a new account if you’re certain your company does not already exist within the portal

Once you have registered on the Development Service Applications Portal, then you can proceed to download the app, just search ‘Dev Services’ in your app store, and you will find the new version of the app and just follow the instruction to download as normal. If you have the old version already installed, delete it and re-install the latest version.

UCP/ground worker access

The developer is in charge of who is able to access each site they have on the app. In order for access to be provided to a UCP/ground worker, please contact the developer and advise which sites you will need access to.

It is then up to the admin user of the developer to add you to the site on the portal – further guidance to follow.

What support is in place?

•  Scottish Water has prepared guidance packs and videos in order to support you with the new functionality of the app. Please follow this link and watch the video ‘Phase 2 overview’ under ‘Project Astro’ documents to see some of the new functionality.

•  The guidance pack offers technical support in regards to the photos that are required in order to pass inspection and has information that can assist on site. To download the pack, please follow this link.

•  Scottish Water is also available to help with any questions you may have on the new inspection types and can offer both remote coaching and on-site coaching when it returns to non-essential work on sites over the course of the following weeks and months.

If you have questions, or would Scottish Water to provide remote coaching to your and/or your teams, please do not hesitate to contact Development Operations (0800 389 0379) and/or Sharon D’Arcy Sharon.Darcy@scottishwater.co.uk and/or Calum Rodger  Calum.Rodger@scottishwater.co.uk
