Springfield Properties has created two new managing director positions in its private housing division to provide a regional focus and increase its operational efficiency.
Dave Main, who has been with Springfield for almost 20 years, has been promoted from Development Manager to Managing Director for the North of Scotland (Private Housing). Peter Matthews, a former senior executive at Keepmoat Homes and Taylor Wimpey, has joined Springfield as Managing Director for Central Scotland (Private Housing).
The two new positions enhance Springfield’s management structure and support the execution of its growth strategy, which is focused on geographic expansion and progressing the development of its five Village sites.
Main joined Springfield in 1999 as a quantity surveyor and has been instrumental in growing the company in size and reputation. He has a proven track record in profitably delivering projects, with experience in managing them from land purchase appraisal through to final handover of the homes.
Matthews adds significant experience in the housebuilding industry, having worked for Taylor Wimpey for over a decade. He was most recently Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey’s East Scotland business, before joining Keepmoat Homes as Regional Managing Director for Scotland. During his career, Peter has also held senior management positions at RAC and Reuters.
Commenting on his new role, Main said: “Having been with the company since its very early days, I’ve seen just how much it has grown over the years, from the introduction of affordable housing to the creation of Springfield Choices and the expansion to central Scotland.
“The company has a tremendous ethos of employee development and excellence. Training is highly valued at Springfield and in a growing company there are always opportunities for progression if you deliver projects effectively.”
Matthews added: “Following Springfield’s IPO, acquisition of Dawn Homes and now new management structure, this is an exciting time to have come on board. I’ve joined a skilled and able team that is focused on increasing sales by delivering what customers want. Springfield Villages, in particular, underpin long-term growth and enable us to design great places to live where a new community can thrive. I’m looking forward to playing my part in delivering this vision.”
The pair will sit alongside Martin Egan, Managing Director of Dawn Homes, which Springfield acquired in May 2018; and Tom Leggeat, Managing Director for Partnerships (previously Group Partnerships Director), which is Springfield’s Affordable housing division.
Innes Smith, CEO of Springfield, said: “We are delighted to have appointed Dave and Peter to these newly created MD positions to support our fast-growing Private Housing division. The appointments highlight both the great pride we take in training and developing our highly skilled workforce and our ability to attract equally high-calibre individuals from outside Springfield.
“With our four Managing Directors now in place, each with a clear remit to grow their part of the Springfield business, and having further capitalised the company through listing on AIM last year, we have strengthened the foundations of the company and are in a better position than ever to ensure sustainable, long-term growth.”
