Time’s running out for free procurement support for housing associations
There are still some places available on the free procurement support programme but time is running out for associations to take part as it finishes at the end of March.
The programme, which is funded by the Scottish Government, has so far helped more than 40 associations to improve how they procure with a further 30 in the pipeline. The programme is delivered by Scotland Excel and is for all associations, regardless of size.
Michael Cameron, Scottish Housing Regulator Chief Executive said;
“Effective procurement is an important way for landlords to provide value for money. This programme offers landlords an opportunity to test their approach to procurement and to identify potential improvements in how they procure.”
Colin Taylor, who leads the programme at Scotland Excel, said;
“We have found that most associations benefit greatly from this support. We can help them to identify opportunities for improvement and signpost them to solutions quickly. We then do a more formal assessment and develop an action plan for the future. This usually reassures the association about compliance but also opportunities for savings and wider community benefits.”
Feedback from participants has been very positive. Calum Kippen of Kingdom Housing Association said;
“We found it to be a very useful exercise to focus our attention on procurement for a period of time to assure us of our compliance.”
And Angela Morgan of Port of Leith Housing Association said;
“It’s an excellent programme and service which should help improve delivery in all organisations”.
