Universal Credit Help to Claim Service
Help to Claim offers independent, tailored and practical support to help people make a Universal Credit claim and receive their first full payment on time.
Following the announcement in October 2018 that the Citizens Advice network will provide a new service to help people claim Universal Credit, the service is live as of 1 April 2019.
This new Help to Claim service offers independent, tailored and practical support to help people make a Universal Credit claim and receive their first full payment on time. Citizens Advice Scotland is taking a ‘no wrong door’ approach to accessing the service and has developed a multi-channel approach involving a telephone helpline, webchat technology and face to face meetings in bureau as well as self-help information online.
People can access the Help to Claim service:
- in person at their local citizens advice bureau (search for the nearest bureau at www.cas.org.uk/bureaux)
- by phone: 0800 023 2581
- through webchat: www.cas.org.uk/helptoclaim
- or for self-help information online: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/scotland/benefits/universal-credit/
