West Highland Housing Association hold successful AGM
Members hear about association’s work.
West Highland Housing Association recently celebrated its work over the past year at its AGM.
Dougie Mackie, Chair of West Highland, welcomed former Dunbeg Primary School headteacher, Sine MacVicar as well as West Highland members to the AGM.
Members heard about West Highland’s commitment to the more rural and island areas in Argyll as well as its partnership work in the last year with other organisations to deliver both housing and services.
Sine MacVicar presented cheques to Appin Community Transport organisation and Hope Kitchen – two local organisations that have been beneficiaries of grants from West Highland.
West Highland was then presented with its Investors in Young People Award and its Healthy Working Lives Award.
Sine MacVicar said:
“I was delighted to be able to attend the AGM to present the awards but also to hear about the good work being done for the area. I worked in Dunbeg for many years, seeing many of the children in Dunbeg becoming parents themselves and families need housing.
“West Highland, with their partnership with Link, are doing incredible work in the area. I know Link is taking forward the Dunbeg development with great sensitivity but to hear that West Highland are also developing in other areas is great news for Argyll.”
Dougie Mackie, Chair of West Highland, said:
“This has been a very good year for West Highland Housing Association. As part of the Link Group, we have seen ongoing work towards providing 300 homes at Dunbeg which, when completed, will be managed by West Highland Housing Association.
“In addition, we have completed 18 properties at Port Ellen on Islay and are starting work on a number of small developments in the Oban area and our neighbouring islands. Our recent charitable donations targets help for some of our most vulnerable residents though Hope Kitchen and medical transportation for the elderly in the Appin area.
