Families in Glasgow have enjoyed a packed programme of free summer activities organised by West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA).
WSHA’s Meet, Eat and Play Programme was delivered with funding from Glasgow City Council’s Holiday Hunger Programme in the North East and West of Glasgow, with an emphasis on providing healthy meals during the school holidays in conjunction with a range of engaging activities.
The funding was secured by WSHA’s charitable subsidiary, Willowacre Trust.
The highlight of the programme was a series of community events hosted in Barrowfield and Springburn, which saw around 500 local people enjoy a variety of activities. One tenant in Springburn commented that it was “the best day we’ve had in years”.
Maisie O’Brien, Community & Support Services Manager at WSHA, said:
“WSHA and its subsidiary Willowacre Trust are committed to tackling poverty and working to improve the lives of our tenants. We are delighted that around 1,000 people benefitted from a healthy meal and participated in our activities.
“We will continue to explore innovative ways to deliver services that make a genuine difference to the lives of our tenants. ”
