The informative and friendly two-hour digital course is called Fit Finance – Practical Money Skills.

Glasgow Life are offering a free digital financial capability course to help those in financial need find the help and support that is available to them. The informative and friendly two-hour digital course, called Fit Finance – Practical Money Skills, is a money management course run in partnership with Wheatley Group and 12 other organisations as part of the ‘My Money’ project.

This very worthwhile course is teaching clients where to go if they have a shortfall in their rent; where to go for emergency funds; how to gain access to an ethical pay-day loan funded by GCC; how to join a credit union or get a bank account; and how to use online banking.

This course has recently won the International Edge Award for Libraries for Social Inclusion and is available to learners who are unemployed, on a low income, or a lone parent. To increase access, the course can be delivered at times suitable for participants.

Participants in the course have been delighted with the service. Once learner said:

“You have opened my eyes to how much help is out there.”

The project also offers a unique money mentor service, which involves a member of the team providing support to seek financial advice from GEMAP or Money Matters, and/or fuel advice.

If you are interested in the Fit Finance – Practical Money Skills course, please contact Anna Osborne from Glasgow Life on 0141 287 2897.
