50 years of Scotland's housing associations- help us celebrate!
Next year sees half a century of SFHA and many of our members.
Next year SFHA will celebrate its fiftieth anniversary, which is an excellent opportunity to celebrate our past, present and future - and most importantly that of our members.
While some members have an even longer history, the Housing Act 1974 enabled housing associations to build at scale and saw a huge shift in Scotland’s communities. The formation of housing associations and co-operatives transformed housing in Scotland, allowing them to build and maintain good, warm and affordable housing. Since then, we’ve flourished and continued that proud tradition.
SFHA would like to celebrate those achievements throughout next year – but we need your help to do that. We know many members will have archives of old documents, photographs, films and more and we’d love to see anything you think could be useful, interesting or worth noting. We also know that there will be colleagues, board members and tenants that have a long history in our housing associations and we’ll be reaching out about anyone who might speak to us too.
If you’d like to be involved and think your association has documents that might help us really bring this to life, please do get in touch with the team on features@sfha.co.uk
