Adversity, Trauma, Resilience and the Housing Sector – Find out more at From Homeless to Housed!

From Homeless to Housed, 13 December 2018, Grassmarket Centre, Edinburgh.

Posted In

Many services across Scotland are learning about the impact of Adverse Childhood Events and thinking about how best to develop adversity and trauma-informed services. Housing professionals need to know about these developments and consider ways in which our services should develop and respond to this growing body of evidence.

Dealing with adversity and trauma appropriately can help us provide the best possible service and assistance to vulnerable tenants, as well as helping us think about changes to policies, procedures and ways of working that will improve life outcomes for our communities.

SFHA’s From Homeless to Housed Conference, taking place on the 13 December at the Grassmarket Centre in Edinburgh, will run a session led by Ruth Robin of Health Care Improvement Scotland on adversity, trauma and resilience within the housing sector.

Robin joined Health Care Improvement Scotland as the Portfolio Lead for Place, Home & Housing. Her work supports improvements to strategic planning and raises awareness of housing options that will provide people with a home environment that supports improved health and wellbeing.

Ruth has a wealth of experience from across both the local authority and voluntary sectors and has worked in housing for over 15 years, managing and delivering a range of services from tenancy sustainment to homeless prevention.

The conference is a one day event aimed at housing practitioners and also gives more information about how the shift to rapid rehousing will affect you. You will also hear about housing first, as well as issues relating to housing support.

The conference also looks at health and homelessness, Homelessness Prevention Duty, Scottish Homes for Cathy Charter and features world café discussions! In addition, Kevin Stewart MSP will open the conference to talk about the Scottish Government’ s new homelessness policy.
