All you need to know about FOI: CEO briefings and all staff workshops

Available to book now.

In light of the forthcoming Freedom of Information legislation extension to Scottish RSLs, it is essential that organisations understand what is required to ensure that they are prepared for the new requirements. The Scottish Information Commissioner, Daren Fitzhenry, is keen to meet with all RSL CEOs in order to discuss the legislation, hear any concerns they may have directly and to help shape the upcoming training events that SIC is providing in May and September.

We would like to invite RSL CEOs to attend one of two briefings in Glasgow or Edinburgh:

29 April: SFHA and GWSF members, DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central, Glasgow

1 May: SFHA members, Apex Waterloo Place Hotel, Edinburgh

These briefings are aimed at chief executives, directors or other senior staff members and are a great opportunity to highlight any further sector specific guidance that is required.

Following on from these briefings, the Scottish Information Commissioner will be delivering free FOI events for the sector, as RSLs work towards the ‘go live’ date of 11 November 2019.

The events are aimed at those who will be responsible for the implementation of FOI and training other staff within their organisation. A programme will be available following the CEO conversation events, at which the content will be discussed.

The first round of these events will take place as follows:

20 May:  SFHA members, Hilton Edinburgh Carlton, Edinburgh

21 May: SFHA and GWSF members, Wheatley Academy, Glasgow

A further training event, building on the feedback received through the first events and during the implementation period, will take place in September (again, both in Glasgow and Edinburgh). Dates will be confirmed for this in due course.

Given the anticipated high demand for both the briefings and the workshops, we will have to, in the first instance, limit attendance to one delegate per organisation. We will keep a waiting list of anyone who is unable to attend because of this restriction, and let you know if places become available

Please click on any one of the above events to be taken to the SFHA website where you can see more information about each event and book your place. Please note that the Glasgow sessions are almost fully booked, but there are still places at the Edinburgh sessions.
