Calling RSL senior teams and board members - last chance to attend the launch of SFHA’s Treasury Management Guidance

This guidance is intended for governing body members, chief executives and executive directors, as well as officers involved in treasury management in SFHA member organisations.

Managing the finances and risks of an RSL is of vital importance and involves many colleagues and board members. To assist members with this important work, SFHA has commissioned practical treasury management guidance which will be launched on February 15.

A working group of SFHA members have helped shape the guidance, which has been requested for some time now. As a result, DTP were commissioned to carry out the work and they will host an online launch event for the guidance next week.

This guidance is intended for governing body members, chief executives and executive directors, as well as officers involved in treasury management in SFHA member organisations.

Treasury management is a complex and technical aspect of an RSL’s activity. It inevitably entails risks that need to be identified, assessed and managed on a continual basis. There are also significant issues around reporting and compliance, in respect of both lenders and regulators.

The guidance has the goal of enabling executive directors in RSLs to demonstrate to stakeholders that their organisation is effectively managing treasury risk, has a treasury management policy that is appropriate to its funding position and understands its treasury position and obligations - and therefore is compliant with the SHR’s requirements, as set out in Regulatory Standard 3, and the CIPFA Treasury Management Code.

The guidance will also enable board members to understand their role in treasury management issues, and help them develop the skills and knowledge, and to ask the questions to complete that role effectively, and be confident when asked to approve an Assurance Statement asserting compliance with the Regulatory Standards.

Attending this launch event will allow you to hear an overview of the guidance, how to use it and the benefits it will bring to your organisation. There will also be a chance to ask questions.

This session is FREE to attend and is exclusively for SFHA members. You can book your place here. The event runs from 10.15am until 11.45am.

The guidance document will be available on the SFHA website following the launch event.
